1. How to apply for informal trade in the town?

To support local entrepreneurship while maintaining order, the Nhlangano Town Council requires all informal traders to hold a valid permit.

  • Application Process: Visit the Council Civic Offices to obtain an application form or download it from our website. You will need to provide details regarding the type of goods or services you intend to offer, the exact site for intended trade. Provide all information as per the spaces on the forms. Hand-deliver it to the Civic Centre or email it back at market@ntc.co.sz
  • Required Documents: A certified copy of your ID or Passport.
    - Proof of residence (address).

2. How to get for the Health Clearance Certificate?

A Health Clearance Certificate (or Health Report) is a mandatory legal document for any business premises to ensure they meet safety and hygiene standards.

Application Process: Gather a copy of your Trading License application notice from the Ministry of Commerce, your Lease Agreement or Title Deed, and proof of payment for the application fee.

  • Obtain and complete the application form from the Council’s Public Health Department at the Civic Centre or download it from the website leaving the part to be filled by Council officials unattended.
  • Make the application payment which is E1000.00 for new grant and E500.00 for renewals or transfers.
  • Once submitted, a Health Inspector will schedule a visit to your premises to ensure it meets requirements for intended business type.
  • If the premises pass inspection, the report is submitted to the Environmental Manager for approval, and you will receive your certificate.

3. When is waste collected in my ward?

Nhlangano Town Council provides scheduled refuse collection services to maintain a clean environment for all residents. Waste is collected on specific days depending on your ward. Residents are advised to place their refuse in bins or refuse bags at their gates by 7:30 AM on their designated day.

  • Mondays - CBD, Health Centre and Velaphi Township
  • Tuesdays - CBD, Casino, LaNgwane Township, Shingilii and Police Camp
  • Wednesdays - CBD, Macalpine
  • Thursday - CBD, Mathendele and Ext. 6
  • Friday - CBD, Nkhanini, Montigny and Ward 6
  • Public Holidays - Collection typically continues as scheduled unless a special notice is issued via our social media pages or posters.
  • Missed Collection - If your waste was not collected on the scheduled day, please contact the Environmental Health department at the Civic Offices.

4. How to apply for waste disposal permit and how much is charged for a month?

Businesses and private contractors generating significant waste must obtain a permit to use the Council's disposal facility.

Only general and construction waste accepted, strictly no hazardous waste allowed.

5. Who is eligible for a burial space at the Council cemetery?

Everyone who owns property within the perimeters of the town, including government for pauper’s funeral.

6. How do I apply for a burial grave?

An application must be submitted to the Nhlangano Town Council Civic Centre. You will need:

  • Proof of residence.
  • A certified copy of the Death Certificate.
  • The National ID of the Next of Kin.
  • Proof of payment for the burial fees.

7. What are the current burial fees?

  • For an adult it’s E500.00
  • For a child it’s E300.00

8. Is the Council responsible for digging the grave?

The Council does the preliminary digging of the grave on the designated plot with final preparations of the grave being a responsibility of the applicant.

9. How much notice is required before a burial can take place?

The application must be made at least 24 hours before the actual date to allow the Council time to allocate and do the preliminary preparations/digging of the grave.
